WebSelf lets you connect a suite of analytics and notification tools designed to help you monitor your website's health and maximize its visibility on Google.
1. What is it for?
It's a valuable tool because it gives you access to reports on how search engines perceive your website. This information will allow you to significantly improve your SEO.
Specifically, it lets you track your SEO through various metrics (position changes, websites linking to your site, etc.). It also identifies your website's weaknesses, allowing you to improve your site to boost your SEO and achieve a better ranking in search engines.
2. Create an account
Go to Google Search Console. You'll need to register your website and verify your ownership. You'll then have to complete a few steps to confirm your ownership.
- Once logged into your Google Search Console account, click the + Add property option:
- Enter the domain name you want to verify (without the www).
- Click CONTINUE.
Google Search Console accepts several verification methods.
- Choose the "Verify domain ownership via HTML tag" option.
- Click COPY.
Note: You must COPY the entire code (the opening "<" and closing "/>" brackets are part of the code).
- You will obtain the code for your meta tag, example:
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="your_meta_id" />
IMPORTANT:
- Leave the Google Search Console page open!
3.- Adding the Meta Tag Code to Your WebSelf
Note: The Google Search Console feature is available starting at the Discovery Plan.
- Log in to your WebSelf account.
- On the Settings tab, you can configure the Google Search Console meta tag.
- Go to the vertical management bar located on the left side of the editor, and click the gear icon at the bottom.
- Go to the General section.
- Click Code & Tracking.
- Go to the Google Search Console heading.
Where can I find my Google meta tag? - Paste the code into the Meta Tag window.
Exemple: <meta name="google-site-verification" content="your_meta_id" />
IMPORTANT:
- Go back to the Google Search Console page that remained open and click VALIDATE.
- Click FINISH.
Note that it may take a few hours for the Google Search Console meta tag to be applied.
