FAQ
Why does an order display the "Pending" status?
When an order displays the "Captured" status in your store's admin, it means that the funds have been successfully transferred to your account. However, the "Pending" status indicates that the payment has not yet been finalized.
For payments made via PayPal, there are several reasons why the "Pending" status may appear:
- Unconfirmed shipping address: If the customer has not provided a confirmed shipping address and your PayPal settings require manual validation, the payment will be placed on hold. To change this preference, go to your PayPal Profile Preferences.
- Foreign currency: If you do not have a balance in the currency used by the customer and your settings do not allow automatic conversion, the payment will remain on hold. You can adjust this in your PayPal Profile Preferences.
- Security analysis: PayPal may temporarily suspend a payment while it analyzes the potential risks associated with the transaction.
- Account Upgrade Required: If your PayPal account needs to be upgraded to Premier or Business status, some payments, particularly credit cards, may be blocked pending this upgrade.
- Unverified Account: If your PayPal account has not yet been verified, some payments may remain pending. Check your PayPal account for more details and next steps.
A common reason for pending payments, which you can also find in order details, is:
"The payment was sent to an unregistered or unconfirmed email address."
In this case, make sure the email address entered in your store's administration is correct and associated with your PayPal account. Also, make sure you have confirmed your email address with PayPal.
- What should I do if a customer contacts you because they see the "Your order is pending confirmation" page after completing their payment?
Reassure your customer. Most payments are confirmed within minutes. In rare cases, it can take up to 24 hours.
