Search engine optimization, or SEO, is one of the key elements for a website or a blog. Indeed, the more search engines like Google find your content relevant, the more you increase your chances of appearing in the first search results and getting visitors.
To help, WebSelf Simple has created special settings made especially for the SEO of your blog articles.
Note:
Please note that these SEO settings are only available to those with a WebSelf Premium package.
The SEO settings
You will find your blog article SEO settings in the setting options located left. You only need to click on SEO to access them.
The three available settings are:
- The page URL
- The title tag
- The meta description
The page URL
You can customize the URL of your blog article page. It is essential that we find at least the title or the most important keywords.
The title tag
It is the title of your page on Google search results. Add the title of your article in 65 characters or less.
On Google, it is the title that appears in blue in the search results.
The meta description
It is what makes your blog unique; a short description that summarizes this page content for Google and search engines. A length of approximately 160 characters is recommended.
Please note that you also have the opportunity to choose not to index your blog article on search engines. It means that your text will not appear on Google. To ensure that your blog article is indexed and displayed in search results, this case must be checked.
Here are a few tips to optimize your blog articles for search engines
Besides taking the time to fill out all the sections mentioned above, here are other important elements to consider to ensure getting a good SEO for your blog articles.
- Use the best keywords
Before you start writing your article, you must find the most relevant keywords. Then, you must use them in your texts, titles, title tags, and meta descriptions.
- Have a decent number of words
Google seems to prioritize articles and blogs with a significant number of words and content. It is not necessary to target writing more than 3000 words, but we suggest trying to have at least 500. If needed, search your theme or title on Google and check how many words the pages that appear in the first results have.
- Use sub-titles
Besides allowing better readability, sub-titles can help structure your texts. Each article comes with a basic H1 Title (H1 tag), but remember to use H2 Subtitles (H2 tag) and H3 Subtitles (H3 tag).
- Consider links
Links can help your site browsing and increase the average time spent by inviting people to discover other articles. Consequently, remember to add a few links throughout your text. Also, think about using links to your blog article.
