Besides online payments, you can receive payments outside of your store (e.g., in-person). You can guide customers on how to pay you (e.g., with cash, cheque, bank transfers, etc.) by providing instructions.
The process of collecting payment may not be immediate with these methods. Orders placed with a manual payment option are labeled as Awaiting Payment (store admin panel → Payment). The order status will stay as Awaiting Payment until you facilitate payment, receive the funds, and update the order as Paid.
Introducing manual (offline) payment option
To activate a manual payment method in your store:
- Navigate to Payment from your store admin.
- Locate the section labeled Manual Payment Methods.
- Select + Add Manual Payment Method.
- Name the payment method in the provided field, then provide instructions that include all necessary details:
- Save your modifications.
- Ensure that the payment method is switched to Enabled:
Set up manual (offline) payments in installments, or installment payments
If you have set up a manual (offline) payment, you can offer your customer the option to pay you for a purchase in a single installment or to spread the cost of a purchase over a series of installments.
Prerequisites:
- The "in store Pick up" delivery method must be available to your customer.
- The desired manual payment method must be configured (e.g. cash, bank transfer, check, invoice, etc.), and enabled.
- You must provide instructions to your customers regarding the processing of the order.
To activate a manual installment payment method in your store:
- Navigate to Payment from your store admin.
- Locate the section labeled Manual Payment Methods.
- Select + Add Manual Payment Method.
- Name the payment method in the provided field, then provide instructions that include all necessary details.
- Save your modifications.
- Ensure that the payment method is switched to Enabled.
7.- In the 'Shipping and Delivery' step, the customer will be presented with the option to 'in store Pick up'.
8.- The information of the pick-up location you have indicated will be displayed.
9.- In the 'Payment Information' step, your customer will have to choose the payment method that suits them, subsequently, they will receive the payment instructions.
10.- The order status will remain on Pending Payment until you arrange the payment, collect the funds and mark the order as Paid.
When you update the status of a purchase, your customer will automatically receive a notification email with the updated information on the status of the purchase.
11.- As soon as you mark the order as paid, your customer will automatically receive a notification email with instructions to collect their order.
12.- Once the order is collected by the customer, you must mark the status of the order as Delivered.
Add a Manual (Offline) Payment Method Fee
Your online store does not charge any transaction fees for orders that accept manual payments.
If you want to add a surcharge per order that can be used to cover your expenses for using this payment processor. If a customer chooses this payment method at checkout, the fee is added to the order as a fixed amount or as a percentage of the order total.
To Add a payment Method Fee in your online store:
- From your store's Admin Panel, go to Payments.
- Find the Manual Payment Methods block.
- Click Add Manual Payment Method.
- Fill in the payment method name in the text box.
- Add payment instructions to include all the necessary information.
- Save the changes.
- Click the Add Payment Method Fee button.
- Choose between "fixed amount or percentage" and enter the fee.
- Click Save.
- Make sure the payment method is set to Enabled.
