You have the option to categorize your clientele into groups based on various factors (bulk purchasers, corporate clients, esteemed patrons, etc.) to extend exclusive storewide concessions to these groups. Once members of a group log into their client accounts in your shop and proceed to the checkout, the group-specific discount will be automatically applied to the items in the cart.

Creating client groups
A client group functions as a categorization label that you can assign to clients to group them based on specific criteria. You have the flexibility to establish multiple groups for your clientele (e.g., premium, wholesaler, corporate, frequent shopper, acquaintances, etc.) and allocate clients accordingly. Each client can be assigned to one group exclusively.
To establish a client group:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Settings → Customers groups.
- Select +Add new customer group.
- Input the group name in the provided field. Clients assigned to this group will view the group name in their client accounts in your shop.
- Click Save.
Adding clients to groups
From the Customers page, you have the ability to assign any client from the list to any of your established client groups. A dash signifies that you haven’t assigned the respective client to any group.
To include or exclude a client from a group:
- From your shop admin, visit My Sales → Customers.
- Conduct a search or filter your client list.
- Choose a client, then click the pencil icon adjacent to the client’s name.
- Allocate a client group in the Customer group column.
- Click Save.
Segment members will be informed of their group affiliation and applicable discount upon logging into their client accounts in your shop:
Setting up discounts for client groups
Now that you've established client groups in your shop, you can proceed to your shop admin under Marketing → Automatic Discounts and formulate discounts for group members.
Discounts for client groups can be:
- Segment-specific. You can implement a uniform discount, either a fixed amount off the regular product price or a percentage discount, for a particular group. For instance:
Clients in the Wholesale group receive a 10% storewide discount. - Segment-specific and order subtotal-based. You can introduce graduated discounts (either dollar or percentage discounts off the standard product price) contingent upon order subtotals. For instance:
Spend $350 or more, save 3%,
Spend $500 or more, save 5%,
Spend $1000 or more and receive $100 off.
To configure a discount for a client group:
- From your shop admin, proceed to Marketing → Automatic discounts.
- Click Add discount within the Based on Customer Segments section to institute a uniform discount or within the Based on Customer Segments and subtotal section to establish graduated discounts for different order subtotals.
- In that section, select the client group for which you wish to provide this discount and specify a % or $ discount in the Discount column:
- Click Add discount if additional uniform discounts are necessary or to incorporate more tiers in the discount table.
- Click Add Discount table if you need to introduce a subtotal-dependent discount for another client group.
- Save the adjustments.
Once configured, the discount will be accessible to clients from the respective client group. For the group-specific discounts to take effect, clients must be logged in during shopping. Upon signing into their client accounts in your shop, the discount will automatically be applied to the items in their carts. Otherwise, they will be treated as regular clients by the shop.
Illustrative scenario
Let's assume you cater to regular clientele as well as wholesale purchasers. Wholesale buyers necessitate receiving discounts commensurate with their purchase volume. This can be arranged either through bulk discount pricing accessible to all visitors or via discounts tailored for customer groups solely accessible to logged-in members.
The steps to configure these discounts are as follows:
- Access your shop admin and navigate to Settings → Customer Segments.
- Create a new client group named "Wholesale Buyers".
- Proceed to My Sales → Customers.
- Choose your wholesale client, then click the edit icon located next to the client’s name.
- Assign the “Wholesale Buyers” client group in the Customer group column.
- Next, visit Marketing → Automatic Discounts.
- Create discounts Based on Customer Segments and Subtotal.
Below is an example showcasing the setup within your admin panel:
When members of your Wholesale Buyers group log into their accounts on your shop and proceed to the cart page, they will notice the discount automatically applied to their subtotal (if it meets the criteria for a discount):
