Ribbons are colored horizontal item tags that are displayed on item listings thumbnails and item details pages in your shop. You can put any text you prefer on them (e.g. “Top Pick”, “20% Off”, “Fresh”, “Holiday bargain” or “Free Delivery”).
You can add corner ribbons for any items directly on the item page in your shop admin or in bulk. While adding them, you can choose tag text and color. It is also possible to provide item ribbons in different languages if your catalog is multilingual.

Adding product ribbons
You can add item ribbons for individual items or in bulk. After you do that, they will be displayed over the main item image in the item grid in your shop and on the item details page, under the price field. Your customers will also see tags on the images of your associated products (if these products have ribbons).
To add a ribbon to your item:
- From your shop admin, go to Catalog → Products.
- Click Add New Product or choose an item from the list.
- Scroll down to the Add or edit ribbon field and click on it.
- Fill out the Ribbon text field.
- Choose the Ribbon color (by default, labels are orange).
- Click Save.
In case you were using the “Compare to” price feature, you already had some “On sale” tags in your catalog. If you set up ribbons for the same products, they will replace them. But if later you decide to remove ribbons, the “On sale” tags will be displayed again. The same goes for "Pre-order" tags if you're using pre-orders.
If you use stock tracking and don't take pre-orders, then, after the item becomes out of stock, the "Sold Out" tag will appear on the item page instead of your ribbon. The ribbon will continue being displayed only in the item grid.
Customizing ribbon text
The Ribbon text field can contain only 30 symbols – which is a perfect reason to make your labels as catchy as possible. You can add any text to attract your customer's attention like “Free shipping”, “Sale”, “Summer special”, etc. If you are using additional storefront languages, you can create ribbon texts in various languages for your item.
To add/change the text of your item ribbon:
- From your shop admin, go to Catalog → Products.
- Click Add New Product or choose an item from the list.
- Scroll down to the Add or edit ribbon field and click on it (or just find the ribbon section for the labels that already exist).
- Enter your text in the Ribbon text field.
- (optional) If your shop is multilingual, enter your text in other languages.
- Click Save.
If you have a multilingual catalog, you can also leave translation fields for your ribbons empty. This way, the texts on the labels will be shown in your shop’s default language.
Customizing ribbon color
You have the option to select the color of your ribbons from various predefined choices, or you can define your own color – for instance, a color that aligns with the theme of your store.
To tailor label color:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Select Add New Product or pick a product from the list.
- Scroll down to the Add or modify ribbon field and click on it (or locate the ribbon section for existing labels).

Select the “#” button and then use the color picker tool by clicking on the eyedropper:
- Adjust the color bar (the left one) and/or the opacity bar (the right one) to modify ribbon color and transparency.
- Alternatively, input an existing color code into the Custom Ribbon Color field – if known – and adjust the transparency level.
- Click Save.
The resulting color code will be shown in the Custom Ribbon Color field.
Deleting product ribbons
You can eliminate ribbons for individual products or all at once. For instance, if the promotion in your store has ended, the labels may no longer be necessary.
To remove a ribbon from your product:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Select a product from the list.
- Scroll down to the ribbon section.
- Click Remove this ribbon.
- Click Save.
If you were using the “Compare to” price feature and later added ribbons to your products, they temporarily replaced the “On sale” tags. However, upon removing a ribbon, the “On sale” tag will reappear. The same applies to "Pre-order" tags if you're utilizing pre-orders.
Adding, updating and deleting product ribbons in bulk
You can conveniently include, revise, or delete ribbons for multiple products simultaneously on the Catalog → Products page in your shop admin. Utilize filters to locate the required items (e.g., all items from the Apparel category or items with a “$50 discount” ribbon) and then perform bulk updates.
You can also perform bulk operations to include, update, or delete product ribbons using CSV import and export. For instance, if you want to maintain consistent ribbons across multiple online stores.
To include ribbons in bulk:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Select all the products you wish to include ribbons for (you can use the Filter option in the upper left corner to expedite your search).
- Click on Mass Update.
- From the dropdown menu, select Promote on Storefront → Manage Ribbons → Add Ribbons to Selected.
- Enter the Ribbon text and select the Ribbon color.
- Click Add.
The selected products will immediately receive ribbons with the specified text and color.
To update ribbons in bulk:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Click on the Filter option in the upper left corner.
- In the menu that appears, scroll down to the Ribbons section.
- Select the desired ribbon from the list or enter its text into the Ribbon text field to expedite your search.
- (optional) Apply additional filters such as categories, availability, stock status, etc.
- Tick the products you wish to update ribbons for.
- Click on Mass Update.

From the dropdown menu, select Promote on Storefront → Manage Ribbons → Add Ribbons to Selected.
If you choose to Add Ribbons to Selected for a product that already has a ribbon, it will be replaced. - Enter the Ribbon text and select the Ribbon color.
- Click Add.
The selected products will immediately have ribbons added with the specified text and color.
To delete ribbons in bulk:
- From your shop admin, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Click on the Filter option in the upper left corner.
- In the menu that appears, scroll down to the Ribbons section.
- Select the desired ribbon from the list or enter its text into the Ribbon text field to expedite your search.
- (optional) Apply additional filters such as categories, availability, stock status, etc.
- Tick the products you wish to remove ribbons from.
- Click on Mass Update.
- From the dropdown menu, select Promote on Storefront → Manage Ribbons → Remove Ribbons from Selected.
- Click Remove.
The selected products will have their ribbons removed immediately.
