Product visuals inform your customers about the appearance of your merchandise. You can upload multiple visuals per item, as desired. It's also feasible to integrate visuals (and clips) into product descriptions to offer further insights to your clientele.
You can define the dimensions and layout of product thumbnails in your shop through various preset design choices in your shop management in the Design area. High-quality product visuals significantly impact store engagement and sales. Ensure to upload several visuals depicting your product comprehensively from various perspectives.

Visual Gallery Dimensions
Product visuals can be uploaded in any size up to 20 MB. Larger and heavier visuals are automatically compressed, ensuring swift loading and proper fit on both desktop and mobile devices.
We suggest utilizing JPG, PNG, and GIF visuals in RGB color mode for your products.
A gallery of product visuals looks most appealing when all visuals appear uniform in size: maintain a consistent aspect ratio (height-to-width ratio) and orientation for all visuals in a product gallery. This ensures a cohesive display as visuals are viewed side by side.
Display various perspectives of the product such as front, side, underside, close-up, etc., enabling customers to examine the merchandise in detail.
Adding a Merchandise Visual
You can attach an unrestricted number of visuals to each product in your store. We advocate for utilizing JPG, PNG, and GIF visuals in RGB color mode for your products.
When multiple visuals are attached to a product, the first uploaded visual is considered primary — it serves as a product thumbnail on a category page and is the initial visual showcased on the product page. To alter the primary visual, simply drag a different visual to the forefront. You can also arrange the other visuals as needed. Customers will view visuals in this sequence on the storefront.
To incorporate visuals into a product:
- From your shop management, navigate to Catalog → Products and select a product to access its details page.
- Within the Images section, either drag and drop visuals from your device or click + Upload Visuals:
- Click Save once your visuals are uploaded.
Once visuals are incorporated, customers can view them in your store. To modify the appearance of the gallery layout, navigate to Design → Visual Gallery thumbnails.
Adding an illustration into a product overview
You have the option to integrate an illustration into the product overview to enhance the presentation of your merchandise.
To include illustrations in the product overview:
- From your shop management, navigate to Catalog → Products and select a product to access its details page.
- Within the Overview section, either drag and drop illustrations from your device or click Insert Illustration:
- Click Save once your illustrations are uploaded.
Adding an illustration into a product option/variation
If you market products with options (such as hue or dimensions), you may wish to attach distinct visuals to different product alternatives. This can be achieved by utilizing product variations. Each variation can accommodate only one illustration. If you desire to exhibit more visuals for a variation, simply include them in the primary product gallery (or within a description).
Note:
This feature is only available with a Business and Premium Boutique plan.
To include an illustration for a product variation:
- From your shop management, navigate to Catalog → Products.
- Click on the product you intend to modify.
- Access the Options tab, then select Variations.
- Click + New variation.
- Choose the option you wish to attach an illustration to in the popup:
- Click Change beneath the current illustration.
- Select the illustration on your device, then upload it.
- Click OK.
That’s all! The illustration is now associated with the option. If you have multiple options, repeat the aforementioned steps for each one.
Bulk Addition of Product Visuals
You can effortlessly append or revise merchandise visuals in bulk utilizing the Bulk Product Editor utility.
If you prefer to upload supplementary merchandise visuals and find it more convenient when handling a ZIP file, you may utilize the Bulk Gallery Upload app.
Protecting your visuals
A prevalent technique for safeguarding visuals is to apply a visual copyright watermark to them. By incorporating your logo or a mark atop your visuals, you can dissuade individuals from duplicating them. Moreover, if they do, it serves as free publicity for you!
Various online services are available for watermarking your visuals, such as:
If you're familiar with Adobe Photoshop, you can utilize it to watermark your visuals as outlined in the guide.
Hiding merchandise visuals
When you add a product to your catalog without uploading any visuals for it, your online store automatically displays a gradient image as the product’s thumbnail in the grid:
You might opt to eliminate or conceal product thumbnail visuals from the product list for a more streamlined appearance. In such instances, you can exclusively exhibit product names without visuals:
To conceal product visuals from the product grid:
- From your shop management, navigate to Design.
- Scroll to Product Card details and layout.
- For the Main product image setting, opt for Do not show.
The adjustments will be automatically saved.
