With the WebSelf platform, you can create a multilingual website easily.
Note:
Creating a multilingual website is available only with an Advanced plan (up to 2 languages) and a VIP plan (unlimited).
In the Settings section, you can add additional languages to your site.
- To access it, go to the vertical management bar on the left side of the editor, and click on the gear icon at the bottom.
- Go to the Languages section.
- In 'My Languages', here are your options:
- The name of the language in which your site was created is displayed by default.
- To add a language, click ADD A LANGUAGE to switch to an Advanced or VIP plan. Learn more: WebSelf Plans
- Enter or select the desired language from the options in the dropdown menu. Click on ADD.
- The new language will appear in the table. Click on the three dots on the right, and three options will be available: Set as Main Language, Publish, Delete.
The language will be displayed at the top in the horizontal management bar:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT:
Make sure you have finished editing your main language page before clicking on EDIT TRANSLATION. Translations made in the content of a secondary language will not be linked to the content of the main language. The same principle applies to the mobile and tablet editors.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Click on EDIT TRANSLATION to start translating your site in the added language.
Once you have started translating a section, it will no longer be linked to the main language. This means that if you make changes to the welcome section in the secondary language, any changes made in the main language will no longer affect the secondary language. However, if you have not yet translated the "contact" section in your secondary language and you make changes in the main language, those changes will also take effect in the secondary language. In fact, you need to break the link between each section.
Additionally, if you add a section in the main language, it will also be added in the secondary language. Remember to translate the section afterwards.
Note:
- The page design will be copied identically, but the content will remain in the original language, so you are responsible for translating the content.
- You cannot add a section in the secondary language. However, you can make slight design modifications to the sections.
- At the bottom of the page, the editor displays the caption 'You are editing the translations of your site: English' (or in the language you just added).
